Mr. Saeju JeongCo-Founder and CEO, WorkSmart Labs
Since the age of 19, Mr. Saeju Jeong has been an endeavoring entrepreneur with experience in many different industries. His enthusiasm and dedication earned him early success in Korea, when he established an independent music label chosen as the most promising e-business in Korea in 2001. After focusing on global markets, he eventually settled in New York where he worked as the sole representative of an international music company. He has always been involved with technology, studying Electrical Engineering at Hong Ik University, working as an IT specialist in the Korean defense industry for 3 years, and completing a variety of IT certifications.
In 2005, Mr. Jeong met his future co-founder, Artem Petakov. After becoming close friends, they founded WorkSmart Labs in 2006. Over the next few years, they had assembled a talented group of engineers with experience working at companies such as Google and Microsoft, as well as top universities world-wide. The team soon produced working prototypes of their interactive exercise equipment, and these early studies led to the development of CardioTrainer, a free mobile fitness application for Android smartphones. CardioTrainer was released with the Android Market in October 2008 and has been the leading fitness application on the Android platform since then, partnering with Google, Motorola, Verizon and NTT DoCoMo.
Mr. Jeong has been instrumental in raising funds and securing partnerships to support the fast-growing company, which has hired five of its eight engineers this year. He has also served as the constant bridge between investors and partners from both U.S. and Asia, and is fascinated with exploring the differences between Western and Eastern business cultures. While in the office, he keeps the team happy, comfortable, and enthusiastic to help the company innovate and grow.
